Hudson Avenue cited for scads of violations after riot

City inspectors issued citations to 24 property owners in the 400 block of Hudson Avenue and one on Ontario Street for code violations on St. Patrick’s Day last year, just four days after drunken mayhem broke out in the hours before the city’s annual parade.

Landlords and homeowners in the student neighborhood were cited for a slew of code violations in the aftermath of the riot by college and university students that drew national media attention. Property owners were ticketed for loose, rotted, and missing hand rails, balusters, ceiling tiles, doorknobs, screen doors; broken windows, skylights, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors; hazardous electrical systems; a faulty chimney and garbage accumulation

Details of the code violations were released Friday, on the eve of the 2012 St. Patrick’s Day parade, in response to a request filed by journalism students at The College of Saint Rose under the state Freedom of Information law. That request for filed 11 months ago, and filed repeatedly after that initial request.

The houses on Hudson Avenue with code violations included #s 452, 455, 456, 458, 459, 463,464,465,466,467,469,470,472,475,476,477,479,480,481,484,492,496,500,and 502. On Ontario Street, only #246 was recognized.
